Beginners to advanced
A fun and fast moving workshop where students learn, revise or revisit a range of watercolour techniques
The workshop begins with a range of technical exercises and finishes with students completing a small Still-life painting. Students will practice a number of essential watercolour techniques, with an emphasis on controlling the water and mixing and blending colours. Students will learn about the difference between papers and pigments, and gain some tips about how best to design and approach a finished watercolour painting. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those more experienced artists.

Learn the art of Random Weaving using natural and recycled materials.
During this workshop you will learn how to use palm inflorescence with recycled materials to make fibre sculpture in an absorbing organic process. Learn about collecting, preparing and storing natural weaving materials. Discover new uses for recycled materials and reduce your environmental footprint. Then immerse yourself in a free-form weaving technique within a relaxed communal environment.

WAX SCULPTING

Beginning by making drawings inspired by sculptor Henry Moore we will then move to constructing a wax framework or armature by observing the rhythms running through your drawing. We will then continue to model over the framework in wax to develop a 3D sculpture which can be coloured to take home.

RELIEF PRINTING WITH LINO

Beginners to intermediate
A practical and fun approach to Lino Printing; this course is suitable for beginners to intermediates.
Discover how to transfer your images or drawings into a beautiful finished artwork. In this workshop you will learn the fundamentals of lino printing, from drawing and carving your image, to the inking and printing process without a press. Learn about artists that have used lino printing such as Margaret Preston, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. Explore different printing techniques including black and white prints, multicoloured prints and watercolour prints all of which can be practiced at home.
