Newport Sculpture Trailblazers 2017 is a sculpture, performance, sound and installation exhibition which will take place in Newport village from Friday September 22nd till Monday October 9th. This event will be managed and curated by the Sydney Art Space Team.
Artists are invited to exhibit their art works at approximately 28 designated shop and laneway sites (to be announced). Artworks can be for sale. Each applying artist will be emailed a trail map from which you will be asked to choose 3 shops, numbering your preference from 1-3. It would be advisable to go down to the village and check out the sites before choosing the business you feel is most appropriate for your artwork. For most sites offering window frontage there is an approximate dimensional boundary for artworks: 700mm h x 400mm w x 400m d. Artists will be informed as to which sites will vary from these dimensions. The Sydney Art Space team will assess all preferences and curate accordingly.
This Newport event will now coincide with the last weekend of the Manly Arts Festival 2017 and the Newport Trail-blazers team are hoping this event will be endorsed as one of the Festival events! Stay posted!
There will be a curatorial selection for the winner of this year’s event (prizemoney to be announced) and a people’s choice award.
